Cirkusfera is an independent, modern circus initiative founded in Belgrade. It brings together young artists are skilled jugglers, objects manipulation, acrobatics, the clowns, and it promotes solidarity, individuality, qualitative madness and the impudent dedication to work.

Since 2003, we have worked on spreading the specific culture of juggling within the troupe Sharena laza. We are collaborating with: Mimart, Teatar unerbes, Mali div, Putujuci cututuk, Carobnjakov sesir

All members of Cirkusfera are fond of nature and animals. We take care of our natural environment and we take an active part in spreading the word about unity of all creatures. In cooperation with the organization called Freedom for animals, we organized protests against circus that used animals in their shows that where performing in Belgrade.

We don’t keep our skills to ourselves, we spread them around and, with our unconventional methods we motivate others to broaden their interests and possibilities. The goal was to show to public that the circus is a forum and a tool that enables all forms of social contacts and crosses the line between nationality, age, ethics, aesthetics and professions.

The role of the circus is not sufficiently known in the child development. The fact that it induces creativity, imagination, the regular psychological and physical development is disregarded and so is the fact that it can be a powerful instrument in the process of socialization and intercultural dialog.  In our country the possibility for professional training and developing through formal and out of school education is nonexistent. In Belgrade there is no place equipped well enough to accommodate the needs of the new circus. Circus performers, just like dancers, need to practice daily so that they can improve their physical abilities and skills.

In our everyday communication with the organizers of the cultural activities, we have noticed that an interest exists for new contents and different aspects of public animation.

A need for a more organized form of education and further artistic development of the circus has grown from the desire for further artistic and professional advances, the very reason we had founded Cirkusfera.
